Chosen charity & why?

Motivation. I have worked for Motivation for the past 12 years, and have witnessed people's lives being transformed when they receive the right wheelchair.

Why did you decide to run the MdS?

There isn't one specific reason, more a combination of reasons that made me decide to run MdS. I have loved being part of the work that Motivation does, and seeing the impact that it has, and want to support it to continue. There is also something about turning 40 which made me think it was time to take on a physical challenge and not descend into middle age! I've always liked to be active but this will be the fittest I've ever been in my life.

The final link was discovering that Michaela who I've known since we trained together as physios, was also planning to apply for the race with Debs and I decided I had to "go for it"! In general, the more someone suggests that a challenge or trip isn't a sensible thing to do, the more it sounds like a good idea and here I am!

Have you ever done anything like this before?

I've done an outward bound course, and an army assault course, long trail walks, run half marathons but nothing like this.

What do your family & friends think?

They are still waiting for a good explanation for why I have decided to put myself through this!

What's the furthest you've ever run?

Until last weekend when I ran the Clarendon marathon, I had only run one marathon and that was in Edinburgh with Michaela 22 years ago!!

What's your fastest marathon time?

My other marathon was 3 hours 37mins.

How did you first get into running?

I enjoyed running at school.

What are you most looking forward to?

Experiencing the desert.

What are you most concerned about?

My feet!

What will you miss most?

Probably decent food!

What one item of luxury will you sneak into your pack?

Thought of something the other day but can't remember now.

What's the first thing you'll do afterwards?

Want to talk to Rich and my girls, closely followed by having a bath perhaps with my feet hanging out the side!

Who inspires you?

People who decide they want to do something and make it happen - whether it's a big or small thing.
